Course

Combining lecture, workshop participation, and group projects, this interactive course offers an introduction to place-based LGBTQ+ history and cultural heritage of the Bay Area. Participants will investigate how built and natural environments embody stories of the LGBTQ+ past; learn about the movement to identify and interpret such places; consider the processes of making and sharing place-based narratives; and acquire resources and skills for finding, documenting, and interpreting queer and trans-historic sites.

Faculty Bio

Gerard Koskovich has presented and published widely on LGBTQ+ history. He has served as a consultant on LGBTQ+ historic sites and cultural heritage for the U.S. National Park Service and the San Francisco Planning Department.
